Collegiate Charter School of Lowell is a tuition-free public charter academy, providing an academically challenging program in a safe, structured environment. CCSL opened its doors in September 2013 to serve students in K-3. The school has expanded each school year and currently serves students in K-12 as of the 2022-23 school year.

CCSL teachers’ primary assignment may be a specific grade level (including homeroom duties) or subject teaching to multiple classes/grades. The Teacher may also be assigned additional non-instructional duties such as proctoring exams, supervising recess or lunch, or leading a club/group/activity.

What You Will Do:

 

  • Teach: Infuse your creativity into delivering engaging lessons and ensuring students achieve academic growth.
  • Manage: Apply school and classroom rules consistently and effectively by utilizing preventive discipline techniques, motivating and engaging students, communicating expectations to students clearly, and establishing and maintaining a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Record: Observe, evaluate, report and record students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Collaborate: Work with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students’ behavioral or academic struggles and celebrate successes and growth.
  • Commit: Demonstrate commitment to the school community by adhering to school policies and procedures and meeting attendance and punctuality guidelines.


Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of second language learning patterns and best practices in English language development.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary in evaluating individual learning styles and needs, which results in planning for an appropriate course of study for individual students.
  • Plans and delivers lessons in English language development.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of ELs across content area.
  • Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and ensure student achievement.
  • Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.
  • Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for limited English speaking students within the school system.
  • Possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, and WIDA assessments and data points.
  • Possesses and utilizes the personal skills necessary for the improvement of student learning and social-emotional wellbeing.
  • Completes documentation required for compliance and attends district EL meetings and professional development offering to continue learning in the field.
