Collegiate Charter School of Lowell is seeking a full-time Athletic Director to oversee operations for all middle school and high school athletics. This position may be assigned to teach sophomore health classes. A summary of responsibilities can be found below.

 

Collegiate Charter School of Lowell is a tuition-free public charter academy, providing an academically challenging program in a safe, structured environment. Collegiate opened its doors in September 2013 to serve students in K-3. The school has expanded each school year and currently serves students in K-12 as of the 2022-23 school year.

Responsibilities:

  • collaboration with the Director of Finance to manage the athletics budget and ensure the payment of athletic fees, funding plans, repairs, and replacement of equipment and facilities; coordinate private and public fundraising efforts
  • ensure compliance of all Collegiate policies including the school and student-athlete handbook, EEA, MIAA, and  rules and regulations, and Massachusetts General Laws; support coaches and athletes in upholding the Core Values of the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell
  • Identify and purchase equipment and uniform needs for each team; collaborate with school maintenance staff to maintain grounds and equipment, and schedule safety checks; oversee reservation and usage of athletic facilities by school teams and outside organizations
  • schedule contests, officials, buses, game administrators, and police details; ensure coaches, athletes, and spectators comply with policies and regulations; manage ticket sales and gate access; monitor and manage crowd behavior, and ensure a safe environment at all athletic venues
  • recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop, support, mentor, and evaluate the coaching staff
  • communicate timelines and requirements for student registration, share expectations and schedules with coaches and athletes, maintain a positive and visible social media presence to promote all athletics, and regularly update the athletics website and athletic alumni records
  • Participate in regular league meetings and committees, MSSADA Athletic Director conference, and enroll in MIAA accreditation programs for ongoing education (CAA, CMAA)
  • Establish positive public relations with athletes, parents, administration and media; maintain and develop positive image of the Collegiate brand; support and attend events for all sports teams; interface with and provide general guidance to boosters to identify funding support needs for teams
  • Provide visionary and strategic leadership toward goals related to competitiveness, student academic achievement, student-athlete experience, compliance, financial management, and event attendance that align with the School’s mission, leadership, overall strategy, and culture
  • Implement strategic planning and policy development for Collegiate's athletics program to promote an environment that fosters each student’s health and welfare, academic and athletic achievement, and overall growth and development

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Teaching high school health classes, typically grade 10, 2-4 periods per week

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in related field and/or combination of related work experience
  • Experience developing, implementing, directing, and evaluating scholastic athletics curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and supervise a competitive athletics program that supports coordinated facilities and equipment use, the scheduling of athletic competitions and events and transportation
  • Experience in sports marketing, promotions, event planning or community outreach
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience supervising and mentoring coaches
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in dealing with a variety of administrative levels and diverse groups of people
  • Team player with strong customer-centered communication skills and a detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to be flexible, effectively manage stress, and adapt to changing work priorities and assignments
